Size

Textured relief and compact weaving, give our Imperial collection, both a sense and look of opulence. Deferentially constructed to form flat and raised pile areas, these rugs project a tactile character all of their own. Subtle patterns, with lustrous sheen in both abstract and vintage designs make these rugs a suitable pairing for most spaces, be they modern or traditional. Woven from a combination of 55% Polyester and 45% Polypropylene, with raised sections at an 11mm pile height, these timeless pieces, which capture and radiate light, will be the talking point of your decor.

Take Imperial Aurora home and within a week it will feel like it has always lived there.

How it looks

Worth a moment on the look of it. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. The pattern is broken just enough at the surface to keep the visual rhythm interesting without ever feeling busy. Up close, you can see how the colour shifts slightly across the pile — that subtle variation is what stops the surface looking printed.

About the make

At a glance: Woven in Belgium. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. At 11mm, this is a sensible everyday pile — substantial without being shaggy, easy to keep clean. Look at the underside and you can see how dense the weave actually is — it is the part of the rug that does the real work.

Which size?

We carry this in a few sizes — a 160x230cm sits well under a coffee table, a 200x290cm anchors a standard three-piece lounge, and the 240x330cm extends well past a queen bed. See our Rug Size Guide for the full layout breakdown.

Day-to-day

In a real Australian room, in any room with Tasmanian oak floorboards, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. For wine, blood, or any pigmented spill, blot quickly with cold water and a mild detergent — the colour will lift before it has time to bond. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.

Imperial Aurora ends up in the kind of homes where pieces are kept rather than swapped — and that is the highest compliment a rug can earn.

Things customers ask

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
