Size

The Vermont collection offers elegant, long-lasting flatweave rugs crafted from premium polypropylene yarns in timeless natural hues. These rugs feature a sleek, natural sisal-like look and can be used both indoors and outdoors to protect floors and enhance ambiance. Their UV stabilization and low-maintenance design, simply hose off and air dry, make them a convenient choice for any setting.

We do not over-stock; Vermont Lilac stays in the range because customers keep coming back for the larger sizes.

Day-to-day

Day to day, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Vacuum, blot, and live with it. That is genuinely the entire maintenance instruction for a rug like this. A good shake outdoors once a season and a regular vacuum is the whole maintenance story.

Colour and pattern

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Grey rugs sit quietly in a room and let the rest of the space do the talking — it's why they outsell almost everything else we carry. There is enough texture in the weave to keep the surface visually interesting without breaking the calm of the palette. Photographs flatten the surface; in person, the weave reads with more dimension than any catalogue image can convey.

What's under the surface

Underneath the look, woven in Belgium. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Modern polypropylene is a long way from the scratchy synthetic of twenty years ago. Soft underfoot, dense in the weave, and entirely washable. The 7mm pile sits in the sweet spot for everyday living — soft enough to feel good underfoot, short enough that the vacuum gets right to the base. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.

Picking the right size

Sizes range across our usual run — if you're unsure which to pick, our Rug Size Guide walks through the common Australian room layouts.

Vermont Lilac is the kind of buy you make once, lay down, and stop thinking about.

FAQs

Will it sit flat once unrolled?

Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
