If we had to recommend a single rug for an everyday family living room, Samba Silver Cream would be on the short list.
On colour
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. The silver tone here carries a slight cool shimmer — useful in rooms where you want a modern, pulled-together look without going stark. Stand a metre back and the pattern recedes into texture — that quality is why the rug reads calm rather than busy. From the kitchen looking through to the lounge, the rug reads as a single grounding plane rather than a competing pattern.
How it's made
The short version: Made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Polypropylene yarns take colour exceptionally well — the tones you see in the photo are stable and hold up under daily sun exposure. The pile sits at 6mm, which is firmly in flatweave territory — dense, hard-wearing, and friendly to a vacuum. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.
Which size?
If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.
Day-to-day
Built for indoor-outdoor use — the flat construction handles weather, the dye is UV-stabilised, and a hose-down sees off most of what an Australian summer can throw at it. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.
Once Samba Silver Cream is laid, the room you've been trying to finish usually finishes itself.
Things customers ask
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
How long does delivery take to my address?
Most metro orders arrive within 3–7 business days. Regional and remote addresses can take a little longer. We'll send tracking the moment your rug leaves the warehouse.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
