Mirada Cream Blue is one of those rugs where the photo doesn't quite do justice to how it reads in person.

On the design

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. We sell more cream rugs than any other colour. They suit the way most Australians live: warm-neutral walls, pale timbers, lots of natural light. The design holds its proportions at every size we run — the medium and large sizes do not look like enlarged versions of the smaller piece. Stand in the doorway and the rug barely registers; sit on the floor and the texture and pile depth come forward.

Construction

Made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. At 6mm, this is a low, dense flatweave — easy to vacuum, easy to slide chairs across, and a sensible pick for a dining room. Run your hand across the surface and the pile feels even from corner to corner — that consistency is what separates a well-made rug from a budget one.

Which size?

If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.

How it handles real life

The construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Spot-clean with mild detergent and cool water. Avoid harsh chemicals — they're not needed and can damage the dye. Build the room around it. It will hold the centre and stay quiet while the rest of the space changes around it.

If your brief sits anywhere near 'considered, calm, and built to last', this is the rug.

Questions we get asked

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

The dye on this construction is specifically UV-stabilised for outdoor use — it holds up to direct Australian sun in a way that an indoor rug never could.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Hose it down. If the spill is something serious, a mild detergent and a soft brush will get the rest, and the sun finishes the job.
