FEATURES:
Alaska Runner Grey Cream is the answer for the customer who wants a rug that looks at home from day one.
How it looks
A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.
Practical notes
In practice, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Care for this one as you would a hard floor — sweep or vacuum regularly and address spills when they happen. The fibre does the rest. We have customers who have lived with the same rug for the better part of a decade. It still looks intentional.
How it's made
At a glance: Produced with day-to-day Australian homes in mind. What matters with this piece is the construction — it's made to take real family use without fuss. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. The pile is 8mm, which is what we'd call a true everyday pile — the kind of weight you want under a coffee table or a dining setting. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.
Sizing
A runner needs to leave a hand's-width of floor visible at each end of the hallway — see our Rug Size Guide for the room-by-room guidance.
Choose this one when you want the decision to be over.
Questions we get asked
Is the back of the rug latex-coated?
The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
The dye on this construction is specifically UV-stabilised for outdoor use — it holds up to direct Australian sun in a way that an indoor rug never could.
