Size

First impressions: Cologne Silver Grey reads as more expensive than it is. That is partly the colour, partly the density of the weave.

Living with it

Designed for patios, decks, and verandas. Leave it out year-round in most parts of Australia and it will hold its colour through the worst of the sun. It will not stain the way a wool or cotton rug can — wine, juice, and pet accidents lift with a damp cloth if you get to them within a reasonable window. If you have a Roomba or similar, the pile here is short enough that it will get a proper clean without snagging.

About the look

The colour story matters here. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so it has real depth in the surface. Up close, you can see how the colour shifts slightly across the pile — that subtle variation is what stops the surface looking printed.

Construction

Underneath the look, produced in Belgium. The Wilton tradition in Belgium produces rugs with extremely fine pattern detail — the kind of edge clarity that holds up under close inspection. The yarn here is solution-dyed polypropylene — the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it, so a fade only happens after years in direct sun. At 6mm, this is a low, dense flatweave — easy to vacuum, easy to slide chairs across, and a sensible pick for a dining room. The construction is built to take the daily compression of foot traffic without flattening through the centre.

Sizing

Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.

This is the kind of rug that makes the rest of your decisions easier.

Things customers ask

Can I steam clean this rug?

Yes, but a hose is usually faster and just as effective.

Does it work with a robot vacuum?

Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

The dye on this construction is specifically UV-stabilised for outdoor use — it holds up to direct Australian sun in a way that an indoor rug never could.

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.
