Size

Textured relief and compact weaving, give our Imperial collection, both a sense and look of opulence. Deferentially constructed to form flat and raised pile areas, these rugs project a tactile character all of their own. Subtle patterns, with lustrous sheen in both abstract and vintage designs make these rugs a suitable pairing for most spaces, be they modern or traditional. Woven from a combination of 55% Polyester and 45% Polypropylene, with raised sections at an 11mm pile height, these timeless pieces, which capture and radiate light, will be the talking point of your decor.

Spend a minute with Imperial Natural Nebula and you start to understand why we kept it through the last range review.

On colour

Blue is a forgiving colour in a rug — it reads calm, it works in coastal rooms, and it sits beautifully against the white walls common in Australian builds. Up close you can see how the dye sits in the fibre — saturated, even, with none of the patchiness of a cheaper construction. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.

About the make

Belgian-made with European precision. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. A 11mm pile feels soft on bare feet but doesn't trap dust the way a longer pile can. Run your hand across the surface and the pile feels even from corner to corner — that consistency is what separates a well-made rug from a budget one.

On sizing

Have a tape measure handy before you commit — our Rug Size Guide has the layouts most of our customers end up choosing.

Day-to-day

This style sits well over polished concrete floors, particularly when the rest of the room runs to off-white walls. A handheld vacuum and a damp cloth handle ninety percent of what you will need to do to keep this rug looking right. The pile does not snag, which matters if you have a clawed animal in the house. Once you have it down, the rug is one of the lowest-maintenance pieces of furniture you will ever buy.

We've sold Imperial Natural Nebula to hundreds of Australian homes, and the feedback rarely changes — it just works.

Common questions

Can I steam clean this rug?

Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
