The subtle design of the Chester collection features an eclectic blend of dappled blue, green and grey shading, which is both cool and inviting. Although ornamental the marbled synthesis of color will never overpower complementary decor elements, making this range perfect for any living space. Great with wood, gorgeous over tiles, and available in a variety of sizes, the Chester rug is simple to clean and will remain attractive for years to come. FEATURES:

Some rugs need to be sold; Chester Runner Blue sells itself once you see it in person.

On colour

What is happening at the surface is straightforward. Blue-toned rugs lift a room without dominating it. They pair especially well with brass, oak, and a lot of natural light. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so it has real depth in the surface. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.

Construction

Underneath the look, made in Belgium on Wilton looms. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Polypropylene does not hold odour the way wool can, which matters in a home with pets or open-plan cooking. A 12mm pile feels soft on bare feet but doesn't trap dust the way a longer pile can. The back of the rug shows the construction clearly — close, even stitching, no slack spots, no thin patches.

Day-to-day

Day to day, in any room with dark hardwood floors, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. Pet hair vacuums out cleanly — the fibre does not hold dander the way a natural pile sometimes can. It holds its shape under a heavy sofa and shrugs off the small dents that lighter constructions can't recover from.

On sizing

Runners are about scale, not just length — leave at least 10cm of floor visible on each side of the runner so the hallway doesn't feel boxed in. Our Rug Size Guide has the proportions we recommend.

Chester Runner Blue is the kind of buy you make once, lay down, and stop thinking about.

Questions we get asked

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.

Will the pattern repeat be obvious?

Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.

Can I steam clean this rug?

Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.
