The subtle design of the Chester collection features an eclectic blend of dappled blue, green and grey shading, which is both cool and inviting. Although ornamental the marbled synthesis of color will never overpower complementary decor elements, making this range perfect for any living space. Great with wood, gorgeous over tiles, and available in a variety of sizes, the Chester rug is simple to clean and will remain attractive for years to come.
First impressions: Chester Pearl reads as more expensive than it is. That is partly the colour, partly the density of the weave.
Construction
The short version: Belgian Wilton-woven. Belgium's Wilton looms are some of the most exacting in the world — the colour separation and pattern definition you get from them is hard to match elsewhere. Density and twist are what separate a good polypropylene rug from a poor one — both have been done properly here. The pile is 12mm, which is what we'd call a true everyday pile — the kind of weight you want under a coffee table or a dining setting. Selvedges are finished cleanly so the rug sits flush against itself without curling at the edges.
Practical notes
It is a comfortable fit in a Perth open-plan living-dining where one large rug has to define both zones — exactly the kind of space most of our customers are decorating. Cleaning protocol is intentionally simple: blot fresh spills, vacuum weekly, get a professional clean every few years if it sees heavy use. Rolling vacuum, ride-on toys, the cat — none of it bothers the surface in any way you will notice.
Colour and pattern
Worth a moment on the look of it. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. The design holds its proportions at every size we run — the medium and large sizes do not look like enlarged versions of the smaller piece. It plays nicely with a low timber coffee table, a linen sofa, and the kind of considered clutter most lived-in rooms accumulate.
Picking the right size
Most of our customers go a size larger than their first instinct. Our Rug Size Guide explains why.
Worth the cost of admission for any room that needs a quiet, well-made centre point.
Questions we get asked
How do I get rid of a stain?
Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
