The Outdoor Sisal collection is a line of high-quality and durable flatweave rugs made from top-quality polypropylene yarns in timeless natural colors. With a sleek, natural sisal appearance, these rugs are perfect for both indoor and Outdoor Sisal use, protecting your floors and creating a cozy atmosphere. Additionally, they are UV stabilized and easy to clean - simply hose them off and let them dry.
Outdoor Sisal Sisal Charcoal fits the brief for what we think of as a 'no-regrets' rug — practical, well-made, and quiet enough to live with for years.
What's under the surface
In one line: Belgian-made with European precision. Belgian weaving has a reputation for precision, and you can see it in the way the pattern sits on the surface of this rug. Modern polypropylene is a long way from the scratchy synthetic of twenty years ago. Soft underfoot, dense in the weave, and entirely washable. A 6mm pile keeps this piece flat enough for a dining room or hallway where dragged chairs would chew up a deeper weave. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. Charcoal grounds a room in a way that pale neutrals never quite do — it makes timber furniture look richer and lets pale walls breathe. The motif is restrained enough to sit under almost any furniture without competing. In strong afternoon light the tones warm noticeably — in cooler southern light, the palette reads slightly more grounded.
Day-to-day
The construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Vacuum on a medium setting weekly, and once a month go over the rug end-to-end with the suction set higher to lift trapped dust from the base. We sell more of this style to families with school-age children than to any other group, which says something about how it lives.
Sizing
For sizing, the short version is: front legs of the sofa should sit on the rug. For the long version, see our Rug Size Guide.
If your existing pieces are quiet, Outdoor Sisal Sisal Charcoal will let them stay that way.
Things customers ask
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Can I return it if it isn't right?
Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.
Does it work with a robot vacuum?
Yes for low and medium piles. For the deeper shaggies in our range, a robot vacuum will struggle a bit — you'll get better results with a regular upright on a higher setting.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
