Available in a range of sizes and an array of vibrant and neutral colours you will surely find one to suit your home. FEATURES:

Messina Permapine is the kind of rug we describe to customers as 'considered without trying'.

How it handles real life

In a real Australian room, we see this style most often in a Geelong worker's cottage renovation where the room has been opened up but the proportions remain modest. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.

On colour

Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Up close, the construction details emerge; from across the room, the rug reads as a single restrained colour field. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.

How it's made

Belgian Wilton-woven. The Wilton tradition in Belgium produces rugs with extremely fine pattern detail — the kind of edge clarity that holds up under close inspection. We have lived with polypropylene rugs in our own homes for years. They survive children, vacuum cleaners, and the occasional small disaster without losing their shape. At 20mm, this sits squarely in plush-shaggy territory — soft on bare feet, deep enough to sink your toes into. The yarn count is dense enough that the pattern reads sharply without losing softness underfoot.

Which size?

Have a tape measure handy before you commit — our Rug Size Guide has the layouts most of our customers end up choosing.

If your existing furniture has earned its place, Messina Permapine will sit comfortably underneath it.

FAQs

Will this rug shed?

No, not in the meaningful sense. Synthetic pile is heat-set rather than spun from short staple fibres, so you may see a small amount of fibre in the first week and very little after that.

Will it cope with kids and pets?

Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.

Will the rug fade in direct sun?

Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.

Can I use this with underfloor heating?

Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
