Dahlia Dark Grey Turquoise is one of those rugs where the photo doesn't quite do justice to how it reads in person.

What's under the surface

In one line: From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polypropylene fibre handles wine, juice, and muddy paws with a damp cloth and a bit of patience — which is why we recommend it to most growing families. The pile height is 18mm — substantial enough to feel luxurious without crossing into shaggy territory. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.

Living with it

In a real Australian room, we see this style most often in mid-century homes where the bones of the house do the talking. For everyday care, vacuum weekly and spot-clean spills as they happen — a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent handles almost anything. Pet-friendly in the most useful sense: claws won't catch the way they do on a looped pile, and the surface vacuums cleanly. Rotate the rug end-to-end every few months so foot traffic wears evenly across the surface.

Colour and pattern

What is happening at the surface is straightforward. A grey-toned rug is the easiest way to anchor a room without committing to a strong palette. Design-wise, the surface is restrained enough to layer with strong artwork or strong upholstery without competing. Across a 200x290cm or 240x330cm, that calm reads as confidence rather than absence.

Picking the right size

If this is going under a dining table, measure the table and add at least 60cm on each side so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. The Rug Size Guide walks through the details.

Our pick if you want one fewer thing to worry about in a busy household.

Things customers ask

Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?

There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.

Can I return it if it isn't right?

Yes — we offer a clear returns window because we know a rug needs to be seen in the actual room. The details are on our returns page, and we'll talk you through it if anything is unclear.

Is the back of the rug latex-coated?

The backing is a standard textile finish — it sits flat on the floor and won't mark timber boards. For hard floors, we'd still recommend a rug pad to keep it from sliding.

How do I get rid of a stain?

Blot — never rub. Cool water and a small amount of mild detergent on a clean cloth handles most spills. Work from the outside of the stain in. Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.

Is the colour the same on both sides?

No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
