FEATURES:

What sells Alaska Runner Dark Grey is not a marketing line — it is how it sits in a room.

How it's made

In one line: Carefully made for everyday family use. What matters with this piece is the construction — it's made to take real family use without fuss. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic, which means stains do not bond to the fibre the way they would with a natural staple. The pile is 8mm, which is what we'd call a true everyday pile — the kind of weight you want under a coffee table or a dining setting. Density is what matters with a piece like this — it is what gives the rug its longevity.

Day-to-day

Day to day, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. Wipe spills with a damp cloth, vacuum on a regular setting, and rotate the rug end-to-end once a year. Nothing else is required. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.

On the design

There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. The pattern reads cleanly from across the room and only reveals its detail close up. It plays nicely with a low timber coffee table, a linen sofa, and the kind of considered clutter most lived-in rooms accumulate.

On sizing

For hallways and galley kitchens, the 80x300cm length we run here is the most commonly bought — our Rug Size Guide walks through how to pick the right length for your space.

Order Alaska Runner Dark Grey if your room is ready for something quietly grown-up at floor level.

Questions we get asked

How thick is the rug overall?

The total thickness includes the pile plus the backing — for most of our rugs, that ends up somewhere between 8mm and 30mm depending on the pile listed. If you need a precise figure for a door clearance, message us and we'll measure.

Does this rug ship rolled or folded?

Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.

Will the colour look the same as the website photo?

Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.

Can I cut the rug to size?

We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.

Can I put a rug pad underneath?

Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
