The Colorado rug is a machine-made Turkish rug that boasts a natural, jute-like appearance while also offering superior durability and ease of maintenance. Unlike traditional jute rugs, the Colorado rug is designed to be vacuumed easily and cleaned without difficulty, minimizing shedding and maintaining a fresh, polished look. Additionally, this rug is resistant to yellowing when exposed to moisture, making it a great choice for high-traffic or outdoor areas. If you're looking for a rug that brings the natural aesthetic of jute with less maintenance, the Colorado rug is an ideal option.
Take Colorado Runner Beige out of the box and the colour is closer to the photo than most rugs we ship — which is a small but meaningful thing.
How it looks
Beige has come a long way from the 1990s — modern beige rugs carry a warm, taupe-leaning tone that reads sophisticated rather than dated. The motif is restrained enough to sit under almost any furniture without competing. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.
Construction
In one line: Made in Turkey on power looms. We've worked with Turkish mills for decades — the country's heritage in rugs runs deep, and the power-loom programmes are some of the most consistent in the world. Density and twist are what separate a good polypropylene rug from a poor one — both have been done properly here. The pile is 10mm, which is what we'd call a true everyday pile — the kind of weight you want under a coffee table or a dining setting. The result is a rug that feels considered without crossing into precious territory.
Sizing
A runner needs to leave a hand's-width of floor visible at each end of the hallway — see our Rug Size Guide for the room-by-room guidance.
Day-to-day
Day to day, the construction is UV-stable and the fibre does not absorb water — hose it down, let it dry in the sun, and it is back in service. If a spill dries before you get to it, dampen the area with cool water, work the cloth from the outside in, and the dried residue lifts back out. We have laid one of these under our own dining table for several years; it still reads as new.
If you are renovating and want one piece that won't fight the rest of your choices, this is it.
Questions we get asked
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
Do you offer samples?
We don't typically send physical samples — most of our customers find the photos and our written notes get them close enough. If you want extra photos in natural light, message us and we'll send them through.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
