Living with it
In practice, in a typical Australian living room — warm timber floors, double-height living spaces with a lot of glazing — it sits comfortably without competing for attention. For shaggy polyester piles, vacuum on a higher setting (or with the beater bar off) and shake the rug out periodically. Rolling vacuum, ride-on toys, the cat — none of it bothers the surface in any way you will notice.
How it looks
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Stand a metre back and the pattern recedes into texture — that quality is why the rug reads calm rather than busy. Layered over a hard floor, it gives a room the visual weight it usually needs at floor level.
Construction
Made in Turkey on power looms. Turkey has been the centre of rug-making for centuries, and the power-loom tradition that came out of Anatolia in the late 20th century is what makes a piece like this possible at a sensible price. We like polyester for shaggies and luxe-pile pieces because it takes deep colour beautifully and stays soft over years of use. At 13mm, the pile is on the plusher side of our range — it has the kind of give that makes a bedroom rug worth waking up to. The result is a rug that feels considered without crossing into precious territory.

Questions we get asked
Will the rug fade in direct sun?
Some fade is possible if a rug sits in direct, unfiltered sun day after day — that's true of any rug. The dyes used here are UV-stabilised and hold up well to the conditions in most Australian rooms.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Will the pattern repeat be obvious?
Not on this construction. The pattern is woven across the full face of the rug rather than printed, so you won't see the kind of seam-like repetition you sometimes get with a printed surface.
