Bring a touch of traditional elegance to your home with this stunning rug. Made in Turkey, this rug features a muted pattern in soft pink tones that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The soft touch pile feels luxurious underfoot, while the small fringe adds a charming touch of texture.
Plain-spoken about what it is and what it does — that's how we'd describe Novara Aurelia Runner.
Colour and pattern
Looked at honestly, the design is doing two things. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. The medallion pattern at the centre is a clear nod to traditional rug-weaving — softened here so it reads quietly rather than ornate. We have laid this in rooms with bold artwork above and minimal furniture, and it sits comfortably in both.
Built and finished
The short version: Anatolian-woven. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polyester yarns hold dye exceptionally well, which is why the colours on this piece look as rich as they do. The 13mm pile gives this rug genuine softness underfoot — particularly good for a bedroom or a sitting room you actually want to sit on the floor in. Construction-wise, this is built to look the same six months in as the day it arrived.
Which size?
A runner needs to leave a hand's-width of floor visible at each end of the hallway — see our Rug Size Guide for the room-by-room guidance.
Living with it
In a real Australian room, among the rooms our customers describe to us, in a Geelong worker's cottage renovation where the room has been opened up but the proportions remain modest is the most common context for a piece like this. Polyester takes well to spot-cleaning — a damp cloth, cool water, and mild detergent will handle most everyday spills. Rug pad underneath on a hard floor — that is the one accessory we would not skip.
This is a rug we recommend without hedging. It does what it should.
Questions we get asked
Will it sit flat once unrolled?
Almost always within 24–48 hours. If you see any waves from the rolled packaging, lay the rug pile-up in the room and let it relax overnight — gravity does the rest. For stubborn corners, rolling the rug briefly in the opposite direction usually does it.
Can I cut the rug to size?
We don't recommend cutting a finished rug — the edges are bound and the construction relies on that binding to stay intact. If you need a custom size, message us and we'll see what's possible.
Can I use this with underfloor heating?
Yes — the pile is not so dense that it traps heat, and the backing handles the moderate temperatures typical of residential underfloor systems.
Will it cope with kids and pets?
Yes, comfortably. Synthetic pile is stain-resistant, doesn't snag under claws, and lifts spills cleanly. It's the construction we recommend most to growing families.
Can I steam clean this rug?
Light steam is fine for synthetic pile. Avoid prolonged direct heat in one spot, and let the rug dry completely before walking on it.
