Some rugs get better with age. The Eternal Vintage Grey Blue is designed to already look that way — a beautifully distressed pattern in blues, greys, and soft mustard that carries the warmth of something lived-in and loved. It makes a room feel layered and collected rather than newly decorated.
We don't keep every rug we get offered, and Eternal Vintage Grey Blue Modern earns its place for a particular reason.
About the look
The colour story matters here. There's a reason grey has been the default neutral of the last decade — it forgives, it cools, and it lets coloured furniture and art read clearly above it. Classical medallion-and-border layout, but the colour palette has been softened so it sits comfortably in a contemporary room. From above, the surface has a quiet visual rhythm — close up, the construction details start to show.
Built and finished
From Turkey's long power-loom tradition. The Turkish weaving industry has refined power-loom production to a point where the result is genuinely close to the look of a traditionally woven rug. Polyester pile carries a soft, slightly silken hand-feel — it's a step up in plushness from polypropylene without losing the easy-care benefit. A 11mm pile feels soft on bare feet but doesn't trap dust the way a longer pile can. Build quality holds up to close inspection — there are no shortcuts in the weave or the finish.
Day-to-day
In a real Australian room, in any room with blackbutt floorboards, this rug adds the visual weight the floor needs to feel finished. For shaggy polyester piles, vacuum on a higher setting (or with the beater bar off) and shake the rug out periodically. Vacuum once a week, spot-treat the inevitable accidents, and the rug does not ask for anything else.
Which size?
If you are between sizes, we almost always recommend sizing up. Our Rug Size Guide has the room-by-room measurements we use ourselves.
Eternal Vintage Grey Blue Modern is the kind of buy you make once, lay down, and stop thinking about.
Common questions
Does the rug have a strong smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint factory or packaging smell on opening — it airs out within a day or two. Lay the rug out, open the windows, and it will settle quickly.
Is the colour the same on both sides?
No — the pile side is the finished face. The reverse shows the construction and is usually a slightly different colour because the dye penetrates the surface rather than the entire fibre.
Does this rug ship rolled or folded?
Rolled. We ship every rug in our range rolled and wrapped — folding can leave a crease in the pile that takes a few weeks to settle out, so we avoid it.
Can I put a rug pad underneath?
Yes, and we'd recommend it on hard floors. A pad keeps the rug from slipping, adds a little extra softness underfoot, and helps the pile wear evenly over time.
Will the colour look the same as the website photo?
Very close, but never identical — every screen renders colour slightly differently, and the rug itself will read warmer or cooler depending on the light in your room. If you want certainty, message us and we'll send additional photos taken in natural light.
